The Role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join a dynamic team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys delivering high-quality financial support in a client-focused environment. You will collaborate with accountancy and tax specialists to provide tailored bookkeeping services, working either from the Hornchurch office or at client premises, based on their preferences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintaining accurate financial records, including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments.
- Processing payroll and ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
- Preparing VAT returns and supporting tax preparation.
- Reconciling bank statements and managing accounts payable/receivable.
- Assisting clients with Xero software and other accounting tools.
- Supporting business administration tasks, such as budgeting and financial reporting.
- Building strong client relationships to understand their unique business needs.
About You
We’re looking for a proactive and professional Bookkeeper who is passionate about providing exceptional client service. You’ll be confident working independently or collaboratively and comfortable engaging with clients from various industries.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Xero (training provided if needed).
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of VAT returns, payroll, and HMRC compliance.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial matters clearly.
- Flexibility to work in the office or travel to client sites as needed.
Desirable:
- AAT qualification or equivalent (part-qualified or QBE considered).
- Experience with clients in dentistry, construction, or other professional sectors.
- Familiarity with tax preparation and business planning.
