Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper - £28k to £32k + pension + healthcare + discretionary bonus + 25 days holidayOur client based in South Manchester is looking for a Full-Time Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper to join its Finance and Operations Team

We’re looking for a proactive Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper who can hit the ground running, to work closely with the Finance Manager on the accounting for the company itself and the partner businesses.

The Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper role will be home-based, with travel required in the South Manchester area. Initial training will be in Hazel Grove.

You’ll also be an integral part of the wider Operations team, supporting us with process enhancements duties to help us as we continue to grow.

Responsibilities of the Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper

  • Supporting the Finance Manager
  • Daily/weekly reconciliation of around 20 bank accounts in GBP, Dollars and Euros predominantly using Xero
  • Managing the accounts inbox
  • Dealing with queries from the partner businesses, the accountant, and suppliers
  • Posting of purchase invoices onto the ledgers
  • Producing reports at month-end and ad hoc
  • Liaising with sub-contractors and assist with various finance projects
  • Reconciling invoices and contributions relating to the group private medical scheme
  • Supporting the Finance Manager with activities relating to the Factoring and Payroll process
  • Ad hoc and project work

Skills & experience

  • AAT Qualified (Desirable)
  • A number of years experience in a hands on bookkeeping/accounts role using Xero (Essential)
  • Strong MS Excel skills (Essential)
  • Competence using Xero (Essential)
  • Candidate must be based within a suitable commute to South Manchester to attend team meetings
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Willing to get stuck in and support team members
  • Good organisational skills and eye for detail
  • Self-motivated and able to work efficiently remotely
  • Good communicator, able to work flexibly within a team environment
