Bid Manager - Ford & Stanley Executive Search : Job Details

Ford & Stanley Group – Are working with a global technology company that has gone through a major structural change in the last few weeks with commercial vehicles (PSV’s etc) being split out from Rail & Marine.

The focus of this position is specifically within Rail as part of the Rail & Marine Division. The business is Parts and Service focussed providing aftermarket solutions to driveline customers of products.

Rail remains a high performer with the opportunity to grow from £15m to £20million and beyond with increased focus on sales and customer development. However, the change in structure has left the team short of commercially capable engineers who can manage accounts and chase opportunities. Hence the requirement for a Bid Engineer.

Key responsibilities include:

• Manage customer enquiries for parts / overhaul / service requirements – work with the team to provide commercially viable solutions.
• Proactively work with clients to maintain relationships and develop opportunities.
• Provide technical support to customers.

Location(s):

Position can be based anywhere and is remote. However, the incumbent will need to be in Croydon when requested (e.g. every 1-2 weeks), but mainly visiting Customers on a regular basis. Most of the sales team lives in East Mids or North West. 

The Candidate

We need a mechanical engineer with commercial capability and rail domain experience who has the capability to move up at least 2 pay grades over the next 5 years and become a commercial leader as they take their business from £15million to £20million+. With an ageing commercial team, the successful candidate will find themselves in a very strong position for career growth, working for a business with an excellent market reputation and wide range of active customers.

Essential

• Mechanical Engineering Qualification – Min HNC Or significant professional experience
• Commercially knowledgeable and capable engineer who can demonstrate where they have been customer facing
• Has “tech Office” type experience and can clearly understand and define engineering requirements
• Significant knowledge of the Rail Rolling Stock Sector with clear understanding of the major and minor players.
