Key Information - Behavioural Support Assistant

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Working Hours: Full-time, 08:30-15:00 (Term-time only)
  • Pay: £85-£100 per day (dependent on experience)
  • Location: Wheatley

We are working in partnership with a well-regarded specialist school in Wheatley, which supports children and young people aged 2-19 with complex needs. The school is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Behavioural Support Assistant to join their team as soon as possible.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting vulnerable students in a therapeutic and educational environment. You will work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to help create a safe, structured, and nurturing setting that enables every student to thrive.

Key Responsibilities of a Behavioural Support Assistant:

  • Provide tailored behavioural and emotional support to students on a 1:1 or small group basis
  • Assist in managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours using a compassionate and proactive approach
  • Contribute to the creation of a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Support students in developing self-regulation, communication, and social skills
  • Collaborate with teaching and support staff to implement individual support plans and behaviour strategies
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to review meetings and reports as required

The Ideal Behavioural Support Assistant Will:

  • Have previous experience working with children or young people - preferred but not essential
  • Demonstrate resilience, patience, and a calm demeanour in high-pressure situations
  • Be an enthusiastic team player with a proactive attitude
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be genuinely passionate about supporting children with additional needs, particularly those with Autism and behavioural challenges
