Long Term Futures are working with a large, inclusive secondary school in Barking to appoint a confident and committed Behaviour Mentor for a September 2025 start.
The school has a strong pastoral framework and works proactively to support students displaying behavioural or emotional difficulties. You'll be joining a well-established inclusion team and will work closely with the Heads of Year, SENCo and safeguarding leads to re-engage pupils and remove barriers to learning.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience working with young people with SEMH needs who wants to make a long-term difference in a structured and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:* Provide 1:1 and group mentoring for students with behavioural challenges* Support positive behaviour strategies in and out of the classroom* Assist with reintegration following incidents or internal exclusions* Monitor progress on behaviour plans and pastoral targets* Liaise with staff, families and external agencies to provide wraparound support* Be a consistent and visible presence throughout the school day
Ideal Candidate Will Have:* Experience supporting young people in a behavioural, SEMH or pastoral role* A calm, assertive and professional approach to de-escalation* Confidence in managing challenging situations and setting boundaries* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills* A background in youth work, PRU, mentoring or school-based inclusion
Location and Transport - Barking, East London* Close to Barking and Upney stations (District Line and C2C rail)* Bus routes include: 5, 62, 287, EL1, EL2* Staff parking available on-site
