Are you a proactive and compassionate professional with a passion for helping children manage their emotions and behaviour? Long Term Futures are looking for a skilled Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive primary school in the welcoming Richmond area.
As a Behaviour Mentor, you'll be a key part of a team dedicated to fostering positive conduct and emotional resilience in pupils. This is an exciting, full-time, long-term position that is perfect for someone ready to guide and empower children with behavioural and emotional challenges. You will be a consistent and impactful presence, providing tailored support and helping to create a harmonious learning environment. This is an ongoing role that provides excellent professional development to enhance your skills in behaviour management and offers the security of a long-term position with potential for a permanent contract.
What you'll do:Implement individualised behaviour strategies to address the root causes of pupil difficulties.
Provide one-on-one or small group coaching to help children develop coping mechanisms and communication skills.
Use calm and effective de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations.
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a reliable and empathetic role model.
Collaborate closely with teachers, the SENCo, and other pastoral staff to ensure a unified approach to pupil wellbeing.
Track behaviour patterns and provide feedback to inform reviews and planning.
We need someone who has a solid understanding of what influences behaviour and a toolkit of effective, positive intervention methods. You'll be exceptionally patient and adaptable, with strong communication and interpersonal skills to connect with children, staff, and parents.
To be successful, you must have:
Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with challenging behaviours or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Skills in de-escalation; any relevant training (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA) would be a plus.
A valid enhanced DBS check or a willingness to apply for one.
