Salary: £20.36 p/h

Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust are looking to expand their Pharmacy department, for a new opportunity for a Band 7 Pharmacist.

The pharmacy service supports staff, service users and carers to achieve safe and effective management of medicine.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • To be responsible for the provision and contribute to the development of clinical pharmacy services, in conjunction with the Lead Pharmacists.
  • Ensure safe and appropriate use of medicines in order to maximise benefit and minimise risk to patients, for e.g. complete medication histories and pharmaceutical care plans for new ward admissions.
  • Review of prescriptions (accuracy, legality & potential problems), monitoring of side-effects and identification of significant drug interactions and advising on clinical monitoring.
  • Participate in the dispensary rota in line with departmental requirements and recognised best practice. This will include complex calculations for specific medicine regimes and dispensing to a high specification of accuracy.
  • To be responsible for medicines supply (e.g. ward/community/crisis team stock lists) ensuring appropriate quantities are stored in accordance with the changing clinical needs of each clinical environment to minimise waste and reduce risk.
  • To participate in the Medicines Management audit programme. This includes recommending suitable audit topics, designing, leading on audit, conducting and supporting data collection.

To be successful in applying for this role you will need:

  • Membership with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Experience within Mental Health is essential.
  • Hospital experience, at least one year’s worth of experience is ideal.
  • Suitably qualified candidates with UK Community experience will be considered.
