What You’ll Be DoingWe are seeking a skilled and motivated Community DoLS Assessor to join the Safeguarding Community Team. In this role, you will:
Prepare supporting documentation for Community DoLS applications under the Re X Streamlined Procedure, including capacity assessments and best interests decision-making.
Manage a caseload of Community DoLS cases, liaising with families, care providers, and professionals while ensuring service users remain at the centre of all decisions.
Undertake assessments of capacity and best interests in line with the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) 2005, ensuring records meet a legally defensible standard.
Support the Senior MCA and DoLS Manager with Court of Protection cases, renewals of Community DoLS orders, and embedding best practice across the ICB footprint.
Provide advice and guidance on MCA and DoLS matters, supporting colleagues in the transition to Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS).
Work collaboratively with health and social care professionals, advocates, and relevant agencies to deliver robust, person-centred safeguarding outcomes.
Registered health or social care professional (NMC, Social Work England, HCPC, etc).
Degree-level qualification in social work, nursing, or occupational therapy.
Qualified Best Interests Assessor (BIA) under the DoLS process.
Strong knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Deprivation of Liberty safeguards, Human Rights Act, and Mental Capacity (Amendment) Act 2019.
Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and commitment to ongoing professional learning.
Proven experience undertaking DoLS or Community DoLS assessments, working with individuals in complex or emotive situations.
Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills, with the ability to make sound, defensible decisions.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm
