A leading manufacturer is seeking an experienced Automation Manager to oversee the output, performance, and development of their Automation, Flofit+, Fabrication, and Spray Booth departments. This is a key leadership role focused on driving production efficiency, developing teams, and leading automation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage departmental output and performance across multiple production areas
  • Lead and develop teams to meet daily/weekly KPIs for quality, productivity, and efficiency
  • Oversee performance management, training, appraisals, absence, and holiday planning
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and workforce engagement
  • Provide clear reporting on output, scrap, and machine efficiencies
  • Support and lead automation and capital investment projects, including new automation cell development
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures
  • Work closely with planning teams to optimise scheduling and resources

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Proven leadership experience within an automation-driven manufacturing environment
  • Strong background in managing and motivating multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience in automation systems, including robotics (ideally ABB), PLCs, HMIs, and electrical systems
  • Ability to read technical, electrical, and pneumatic drawings
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to deliver results through others
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in robotics/automation, with a track record in project delivery

Desirable:

  • Apprenticeship or qualification with an electrical/automation bias
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques
  • Background in industrial automation or plastics manufacturing
