Job Description :

Associate Director – Audit (RI Status)

About the Firm

A well-established and respected practice with a strong client base across audit, accounts, and tax. With senior leaders moving towards retirement, the firm is looking to strengthen its leadership team by appointing an Associate Director with RI status. For the right individual, there is a genuine long-term opportunity to progress to Partner. The firm is also open to experienced Audit or General Practice Managers who are ready to step up and gain RI status.

The Role

This is a true all-rounder position covering audit, accounts, and tax. While audit responsibilities will focus primarily on signing off files and providing technical oversight, you will also manage a varied client portfolio across accounts and tax.

Alongside client delivery, you will be part of the senior leadership team, contributing to succession planning and supporting the smooth transition as Partners approach retirement, putting you in a strong position for future Director and Partner progression.

Responsibilities

  • Hold RI status (or be eligible and ready to obtain it).
  • Review and sign off audit files in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead audits from planning through to completion where required.
  • Manage a mixed portfolio across audit, accounts, and tax.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train staff, delegating work effectively and providing feedback.
  • Work with Partners/Directors on client management, business development, and strategy.
  • Play a key role in succession planning and long-term practice stability.

Requirements

Essential

  • ACA/ACCA qualified.
  • Current RI status or experienced Manager with a clear path to gaining RI.
  • Strong technical knowledge across audit, accounts, and tax.
  • Proven experience in managing a diverse client portfolio.
  • Excellent leadership and client relationship skills.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a general practice environment.
  • Ambition to progress to Director/Partner level.
  • Strong commercial and business development awareness.

Additional Information

  • Open to existing RIs and ambitious Managers aiming to achieve RI status.
  • Clear and genuine route to Partner as part of succession planning.

Why Join?

An excellent opportunity for an ambitious professional to step into senior leadership with responsibility for audit sign-off, a varied all-rounder portfolio across audit, accounts and tax, and a genuine pathway to Partner as part of the firm’s succession planning.
