Role: Assistant Underwriter - International CasualtyLocation: LondonSalary: Up to £40,000 + benefitsReporting to: Senior Underwriter / Underwriting ManagerAbout the RoleWe are seeking a motivated Assistant Underwriter to join the International Casualty team of a leading global reinsurer. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 1-2 years of insurance or reinsurance support experience who is looking to take the next step in their career.You will work directly with a high-performing, experienced underwriting team, gaining hands-on exposure to global casualty risks, pricing, and portfolio management. With structured development, mentorship, and clear progression, this role offers a defined pathway to becoming an Underwriter.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport senior underwriters in assessing and underwriting international casualty reinsurance risks.Assist with analysis of submissions, pricing models, and portfolio performance.Prepare underwriting documentation, presentations, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.Conduct research and gather market intelligence to support decision-making.Maintain accurate records, ensuring compliance with internal guidelines and regulatory standards.Liaise with brokers, clients, and colleagues across underwriting, actuarial, claims, and operations teams.Take on increasing levels of responsibility as skills and knowledge develop.About You1-2 years' experience in an insurance, reinsurance, or underwriting support role.Strong analytical and numerical skills with good attention to detail.Effective communicator with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Highly motivated, eager to learn, and ambitious to progress into an underwriting role.Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience (advantageous but not essential).What We OfferSalary up to £40,000 plus competitive benefits package.A place within a supportive, high-achieving underwriting team.Structured training, mentorship, and study support.Clear career progression path to Underwriter.Exposure to international markets and diverse casualty business.Hybrid working environment.
