Assistant Plan Co-ordinator
  • Pay Rate: £12.59 - £13.26 per hour (PAYE)
  • Location: Barnsley
  • Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (2 months)

Barnsley Council is seeking an experienced Assistant Plan Co-ordinator with a background in administration and a basic understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN). This role is essential in supporting the Early Help Team and managing statutory duties related to education health and care plans for children and young people with SEN. This is a hybrid position requiring presence in our Barnsley office on Mondays and Thursdays.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Carry out statutory duties in relation to casework for children and young people with SEN on behalf of the Local Authority.
  • Respond to customer enquiries through multiple channels including phone, face-to-face, and email, ensuring professional conduct and sensitivity to safeguarding issues.
  • Provide comprehensive information, advice, and guidance on statutory SEN processes to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare for and administer Statutory Assessment panels, including agenda creation, minute taking, and action dissemination.
  • Order goods and services, resolve financial queries, and create new financial vendors in line with financial procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of documentation for statutory panels, appeals, and tribunal cases.
  • Handle complaints and manage difficult interactions with professionalism and a customer-focused approach.
  • Support the project management of education health and care plans, including processing applications for needs assessments and quality checking submissions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including data compilation and report generation for various audiences.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in an administrative role, preferably with exposure to Special Educational Needs.
  • Excellent telephone manner and strong experience using spreadsheets and case management systems.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Experience in customer service, handling complaints, and dealing with challenging situations.
  • Proficiency in data entry and maintenance with a high level of accuracy.
