We’re looking for a dynamic, driven, and detail-oriented Assistant Maintenance Manager (AMM) to join our Estates & Facilities Engineering Team at one of the world’s leading universities.

?? What You’ll Do
  • Lead a team of skilled technicians delivering planned, reactive, and statutory maintenance across a portfolio of iconic university buildings.
  • Be the go-to expert for building services, ensuring maximum uptime and compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.
  • Manage Permits to Work, liaise with contractors, and oversee critical systems that keep the university running smoothly.
  • Champion a customer-focused culture, ensuring high-quality service delivery and rapid response to emergencies.
  • Take ownership of Safe Systems of Work, fault diagnosis, and system recovery—especially in critical environments.
?? What You Bring

Essential:

  • Level 3+ qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or HVAC (or equivalent City & Guilds)
  • Strong knowledge of engineering systems, statutory compliance, and health & safety
  • Proven team leadership and excellent communication skills
  • IT proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset and a passion for service excellence

Desirable:

  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • First Aid certification
  • Experience in critical environments
