Assistant Accountant Job Specification

We're looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our finance team at our manufacturing company. You'll play a crucial role in supporting the finance department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, and contributing to the overall financial health of the company.

  • Reconcile bank statements
  • Update and reconcile the cashflow Forecast spreadsheet on a daily basis using cash flow forecast prepared by the Purchase ledger administrator.
  • Manage the numerous bank account balances to ensure accounts remain positive.
  • Allocate and post the Bank transactions in BC.
  • Carry out the petty cash function and ensure petty cash float balances to nominal ledger at month end.
  • Process and log the Staff Sale orders submitted via finance office and sent to sales team ensuring all prices are calculated.
  • Process supplier debit notes in respect of claims & rebates.
  • Create new vendors in BC as required and post adhoc purchase invoices not captured in Continia
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations to ensure Barclays balances tie to Business Central for all payable and receivable accounts at month end
  • Prepare monthly journals for multiple accruals and prepayments, including waste sales analysis.
  • Company Expenses that have been submitted and authorized in Business Central, check that vat has been correctly recorded with accompanying receipts, then raise the payment in the Bank ready for approval.
  • Raise monthly intercompany cross charge invoices and intercompany management cross charges
  • Reconcile intercompany balances and complete balance sheet reconciliations
  • Upload Visa credit card expenses in to BC and allocate/ accrue as required
  • Maintain BC creating new expense users , maintain mileage rates and create new expense types
  • Manage negative expense claims and advise Payroll to recoup the amounts through the payroll
  • Maintain car and Flt lease schedules and post necessary journals at month end
  • Maintain FMIS - group leasing software to comply with IFRS 16.
  • Monitor aged creditors and negative balances
  • Post GRNI accruals
  • Reconcile payroll and post the payroll journal
  • Provide analysis / insight into the key manufacturing drivers to improve overall efficiency (cost & process).
  • Assist in the production of a weekly POVA
  • Provide support during the yearend Audit

On offer

    • Salary of up to £35,000 plus study support, pension and generous holidays. Early finish on Fridays
