Job Description :

My client a top US law firm are currently looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join their busy team in the City of London. This role involves a range of accounting responsibilities, including the preparation of monthly management accounts, budgetary control, and variance analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, preferably within the legal or professional services sector, and will be highly organised with excellent analytical skills.

Day to day of the role:

  • Assist with the London office annual expense budget and take full responsibility for the Brussels office annual expense budget.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and budgetary control variance analysis.
  • Review and prepare monthly General Ledger (G/L) analysis, including reclassification requests.
  • Prepare quarterly expense forecasting and assist with Brussels quarterly tax accounts accrual reporting.
  • Maintain monthly Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) Headcount schedule detail.
  • Assist with the Brussels office monthly VAT return and prepare all monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare cash flow forecast reporting for the Brussels office and maintain fixed asset accounting.
  • Develop key data packages for Brussels management accounts.
  • Support the Accounting Manager with accounting projects and provide cover for the Management Accountant during periods of absence.
  • Liaise with the New York Accounts department and handle ad-hoc queries and reports as required.

Required skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree educated, a BA in Accounting or similar preferred.
  • Part Qualified Accountant preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ legal or professional services accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience using Elite 3E or a comparable accounting system.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to present information effectively.
  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capable of multitasking and prioritising.
  • Excellent attention to detail and sound judgment.
  • Proactive with a ‘can do, will do’ approach.
  • Able to work in a high-charged, fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to work additional hours when necessary.

Working hours 9.30am-5.30pm and hybrid working 3 days in the office and 2 from home.
