Quest Search & Selection is currently recruiting for an Assistant Food Technologist who will be responsible for Brand quality and food safety for food and household goods categories, new product launches and supplier compliance.
The company is partnering with a long-standing global leader in the UK retail sector. Its stores are found across transport hubs, city centres and neighbourhoods.
Role and Responsibilities of this Assistant Food Technologist role-
- Monitor and analyse product quality and food safety complaints, working with suppliers to create and implement improvement plans.
- Track and report on finished product quality assessments, ensuring corrective actions are followed through where needed.
- Support the Technical Manager in auditing and approving new suppliers, conducting site visits, and ensuring compliance with the company’s quality policies.
- Assist in crisis management and contribute to the development of an early warning system for emerging risks in product quality or safety.
- Stay informed on relevant food legislation and industry standards, helping to communicate key updates internally and ensure product compliance.
- Collaborate with the product development team to support new product launches, ensuring they meet quality and regulatory requirements.
- Manage supplier risk assessments across all approved suppliers.
Qualifications Required for this Assistant Food Technologist role-
- A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related food technical field.
- 2+ years of experience working within the food industry or in roles involving food products.
- Ideally working in a food role within a Technologist, Quality or Auditor background.
- Open to consider retail, FMCG, supplier or manufacturing backgrounds
- A minimum of Level 3 HACCP qualification.
- Desirable TACCP training with hands-on experience in developing and managing food fraud and emerging risk systems.
- Practical knowledge of BRCGS or other GFSI-recognised food safety management systems (desirable).
- Auditor certification or experience with a proven track record of auditing experience.
- Experience in liaising with retail associations, regulatory bodies, or government organisations.
