Here at The Strawford Day Opportunity Hub we have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Manager to join our team. Within our day opportunity hubs we support our individuals to live the life they choose, champion 'ordinary life' and feel part of their local communities.

About the jobSalary: £35,411 - £38,296 Working Pattern: 37 hours (Monday - Friday)

Contract Length: Permanent Location: The Strawford Day Opportunity Hub, Horsham

In this role you will oversee day-to-day operations and support the manager to deliver an inclusive and welcoming day service for all our individuals. You will lead by example using best practice and challenge where required to develop and improve culture and work practices. This role takes a key position in working with senior managers, commissioners, partners and family members to deliver realistic outcomes for people that access the service.

Key Skills:

  • A detailed understanding of the needs of the people you will be supporting e.g. adults with a learning disability and their rights as an individual.
  • You will have the ability to drive through strength-based approaches in social care across the team and with stakeholders.
  • You will be able to develop achievable options that will provide the best outcomes for people, whilst managing resources effectively. You will be kind, supportive and encouraging, whilst building on people's strengths.
  • You will understand different management styles and have the ability to apply this in your approach to staff management, whilst ensuring consistency and best practice throughout the team.
  • You will have a good understanding of different communication techniques and are able to adapt your communication style and language to a diverse range of people and stakeholders.
  • You will be able to negotiate and manage priorities, expectations and responses to ensure that people's needs are met.

Qualifications and or experience:

  • Minimum of 4 GCSE's including English and Maths or equivalent qualification.
  • Leader in Adult Care - Level 5 or equivalent is desirable. If you do not have this qualification it is expected that you will begin this immediately after your 6-month probationary period.
  • Significant experience and working knowledge of the needs of the people accessing the service, including knowledge of disability issues and strength-based approaches.
  • Knowledge relating to the effective management of a team.
  • Understanding of the Care Act 2014 and WSCC Adults vision.
  • UK full driving license - Desirable
