Assistant Accountant - 6-month contract
- Office based 5 days per week Monday to Friday.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to contribute significantly to our finance operations and grow within a supportive environment.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Transaction Recording: Accurately process financial transactions including sales, purchases, receipts, payments, journals, and expenses.
- Bank Reconciliation & Petty Cash: Perform regular bank reconciliations and manage petty cash to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage supplier and customer accounts, process invoices, ensure timely payments and collections, and provide support for accounts receivable and credit control functions.
- VAT Returns: Prepare and submit VAT returns in compliance with HMRC regulations.
- Audit Preparation: Assist with external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor queries.
- Compliance & Regulation: Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards, tax laws, and financial regulations.
- Administrative Support: Handle ad hoc financial and administrative tasks as required.
- Project Work: Contribute to finance-related projects as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a finance or accounting role dealing with journals and intercompany transactions.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good understanding of UK financial regulations and VAT.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
