An exciting opportunity has come up at SThree for a talented Assistant Accountant here at SThree. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Assistant Accountant role is based in our Glasgow office at Cadworks, on a fixed term contract (12 months), hybrid working basis .
The Assistant Accountant is responsible for the delivery of high quality financial and management information for the Management Accounting team. The successful candidate will have the ability to handle large amounts of data, and work with stakeholders at all levels.

What are the key expectations of this role?
- Prepare and post monthly journals including payroll postings, accruals and prepayments and specific cost adjustments.
- Produce payroll reconciliations
- Support AP Non-Trade with invoice coding and posting review.
- Trend analysis and comparison against plan & prior year before month end close.
- Understand business impact of own processes to maintain accurate accounting.
- Support specific group related accounting matters where applicable.
- Assist in the monthly variance analysis and commentary production providing insightful analysis in a clear and concise manner.
- Develop good understanding of the business revenue streams for Perm, Contract (including Employed Contractor) and all other income.
- Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts with a focus on agreed key accounts.
- Proactively work with relevant stakeholders to ensure all outstanding balances are followed up with clear notes, timelines, and actions for resolution.
- Awareness of and adherence to relevant controls for own processes
- Support with larger deliverables or take lead on simpler group and local audit deliverables.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience…
- Good knowledge of financial and management reporting preferred.
- Good written and oral communication skills, able to communicate financial matters to non-technical experts.
- Analytical skills with previous experience in creating and writing commentary for management desirable.
- Intermediate command over MS Excel - Advanced level is desirable.
- Experience of SAP ERP/Dynamics 365 (desirable but not essential)
Qualifications
- CIMA/ACCA/ACA part qualified Accountant or equivalent, or qualified by experience
