Assistant Accountant - AD Finance : Job Details

Alexander Daniels are currently working with a forward-thinking engineering company based in Derby, which is experiencing continued growth and is now looking to expand its finance team with the appointment of an ambitious Assistant Accountant.

This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified assistant accountant or experienced finance professional looking to further their career within a dynamic and supportive environment. You will be part of a collaborative finance team and play a key role in the day-to-day accounting operations while receiving full study support and clear progression opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts

• Perform bank reconciliations and maintain the general ledger

• Support in budgeting and forecasting processes

• Process accruals, prepayments, and journal entries

• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes

• Liaise with internal departments and external auditors

• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company policies

• Contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes

Candidate Requirements:

• Part-qualified (AAT/ACCA/CIMA) or working towards qualification

• Previous experience in a similar Assistant Accountant or Accounts Assistant role

• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting software (Sage, SAP, or similar)

• Excellent attention to detail and time management skills

• Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving

• Ambition to develop and grow within the finance function
