We are recruiting Learning Support Assistants on behalf of a specialist education setting in Haringey. This role offers meaningful, hands-on experience with children and young people who have autism, communication differences, sensory needs and learning disabilities. You will be part of a small class team, providing personalised support to help pupils develop independence, emotional regulation, communication skills and confidence.

What you will be doing

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis throughout the school day
  • Promoting communication, independence and life skills through structured activities
  • Assisting with personal care, feeding or mobility needs where required (full training provided)
  • Encouraging emotional regulation using gentle, supportive strategies
  • Working closely with teachers and therapy teams to follow individual support plans
  • Keeping pupils safe, calm and engaged in learning and social activities

Your presence and encouragement can change a young person’s day—and sometimes their future.

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience in care, support work or working with vulnerable individuals (paid or voluntary)
  • A sincere desire to support children and young people with additional needs
  • Patience, resilience and a calm approach when faced with challenges
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Willingness to support with personal care when needed

You don’t need school-based experience. Your care experience matters, your empathy matters, and your willingness to learn matters.

Training is provided as part of your onboarding.
