Job Description :

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking dedicated ASD Teaching Assistants to support pupils with autism and learning disabilities in SEN schools across Hull & East Riding from September 2025.

These roles are ideal for individuals with a calm, patient, and compassionate approach who are passionate about making a genuine difference in children's lives. You will be instrumental in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Tailored Support: Offer crucial 1:1 and small group support to pupils with autism and learning disabilities, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their individual goals.

  • Implement Personalised Plans: Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement individual education plans (IEPs), behaviour plans, and communication strategies.

  • Promote Communication and Social Skills: Support students in developing their social communication and emotional regulation skills, using strategies such as visual aids, social stories, and preferred interests to build positive interactions.

  • Assist with Daily Routines: Help pupils navigate classroom routines, transitions, and sensory needs to ensure they feel safe and secure within the school environment.

  • Encourage Independence: Empower students by fostering their independence and resilience, celebrating every achievement, big or small.

Requirements:
  • Experience with Autism and Learning Disabilities: Previous experience working with children or young people with autism and/or learning disabilities in a school, care, or youth setting.

  • Essential Mindset: A positive, proactive, and compassionate mindset with the ability to remain calm and adaptable in challenging situations.

  • Safeguarding: An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).

  • Desirable Training: Relevant training or knowledge of strategies such as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) or Makaton is highly desirable, but not essential as training can be provided.
