What you will do:     

  • You will learn how to design, commission & execute highly technical building management control solutions for Heating, Ventilating & Air Conditioning system (HVAC). You will gain knowledge and be proficient in Johnson Controls manufactured products and software.
  • Understand Mechanical & Electrical systems, be able to analyse relevant technical documents and from a static state commission the controls system and designated plant interfaces bringing the control system and plant to full operation such that it performs according to the project specifications.
  • This role largely works in healthcare settings however you will gain additional exposure to other project works.
  • This role will require travel to various sites in Birmingham and towards Cambridge area where the apprentice to accompany our engineers to our clients sites.
  • With the full support of our qualified BMS engineers, you will learn how to analyse relevant technical documents and to bring the plants control system to full operation such that it performs according to the project specifications.
  • Further opportunities await as experience is gained in being able to diagnose, solve technical problems in both software & hardware, advice to customers on energy efficiencies utilising Johnson Controls energy management software.
  • You will be enrolled in on a three year level 3 Building Services Engineering Technician apprenticeship. While also receiving excellent on-the-job work experience from your assigned mentor.
  • As you gain technical experience in both software & hardware, further opportunities await. You can provide advice to customers on energy efficiencies utilizing Johnson Controls energy management software.

How you will do it:

  • On-the-Job Work Experience: You'll spend significant time putting into practice skills learned at college, giving you the opportunity to learn by doing as you progress through your apprenticeship.
  • Collaboration with Qualified Engineers: Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll work closely with qualified Johnson Controls Engineers and Technicians who will serve as mentors, guiding you in developing your skills. This collaborative environment ensures that you receive the support and guidance needed to succeed in your role.
  • Opportunities for Growth: Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll have the opportunity to grow and apply the skills and knowledge gained in college in a real workplace setting. This experiential learning approach ensures that you develop both technical competencies and practical skills essential for success.

Qualifications:

  • You will be enrolled on a a three year level 3 Building Services Engineering Technician apprenticeship.
  • Travel and Accommodation: If you're required to stay away from home for college or work-related purposes, the company will cover the costs of travel, accommodation, and meals. This ensures that you can focus on your education and training without financial burden.

Requirements for the role:

  • GCSE or equivalent in English (Grade 5)
  • GCSE or equivalent in Math’s (Grade 5)
  • Full drivers license is essential.

What happens next?

  • Suitable candidates will have a screening call with a recruiter to discuss the position and provide necessary documentation. Afterward, you will be invited to an assessment centre in May, where they will participate in a practical assessment, meet the team, and have an interview.
  • Within 48 hours of the assessment centre, candidates will receive a response regarding the outcome of their application. If successful, they can begin the apprenticeship on September 2, 2024.
