Analyst - Private Capital - US law firm - Norfolk Capsey : Job Details

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Private Capital Analyst to join a top-tier global law firm’s London-based Business Development team. This role is ideal for a commercially-minded professional with outstanding analytical and editorial skills who is passionate about the private capital markets.

You will play a central role in delivering strategic insight, market intelligence, and high-quality pitch materials to support the firm’s leading Private Capital practice, which includes Private Funds, Private Equity M&A, and adjacent disciplines.

This is not your average analyst position. The successful candidate will take a proactive, research-led approach to identifying opportunities within the private capital ecosystem, helping partners engage intelligently with existing and prospective clients. Your work will directly influence the firm’s growth strategy in one of the most dynamic and competitive areas of legal practice.

You will:

• Be a key source of insight into the European private capital landscape, identifying market trends, fund movements, and strategic shifts.
• Support business development efforts through the creation of impactful pitch decks, briefing materials, and client insights.
• Work closely with partners and the BD team to craft tailored content that reflects both market intelligence and the strategic needs of clients.
• Help elevate the quality and competitiveness of client-facing materials through thoughtful analysis and clear, persuasive writing.

Key Responsibilities

Research, Analysis & Insight

• Conduct forensic research across private capital markets to identify new opportunities and areas for engagement.
• Monitor fund launches, strategic moves, new market entrants, and talent flows.
• Prepare detailed briefings on target clients and sectors, including actionable intelligence for BD strategies.

Pitch Support

• Create and tailor pitch documents and presentations aligned with client needs and firm capabilities.
• Introduce strategic insights into pitch materials to better align with client objectives and market dynamics.
• Work from established templates and precedents while elevating quality with original, relevant content.

Relationship Building & Collaboration

• Maintain relationships with key market data providers and contacts.
• Keep lawyers and the wider BD team regularly informed about relevant market and economic developments.
• Collaborate with teams across the firm to share insights and align strategies.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify actionable trends.
• Proficiency in private capital databases such as Mergermarket, PitchBook, Preqin, Bloomberg, etc.
• Experience in a professional services environment (law, asset management, accountancy, or research/data providers).
• Excellent writing and editorial skills, with the ability to present information clearly and persuasively.
• Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Power BI or other analytical tools is a plus.
