AMHP - Out of Hours - Randstad Care : Job Details

Randstad is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locum Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join the Out of Hours service in Hillingdon. This is a critical role for a dedicated professional to provide a crucial response to mental health crises outside of standard working hours.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct Mental Health Act assessments and make decisions on the need for compulsory admission to hospital.
• Respond to urgent referrals and crisis situations under the Mental Health Act 1983.
• Work autonomously to coordinate with relevant agencies, including the police and ambulance services.
• Provide advice and support to service users, carers, and other professionals.
• Ensure all actions are in line with the Mental Health Act Code of Practice and human rights legislation.
• Manage and de-escalate high-pressure situations with professionalism and expertise.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP).
• AMHP qualification and current registration with Social Work England (or equivalent professional body).
• A thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 and other relevant legislation.
• Excellent crisis management, decision-making, and communication skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a small, dedicated team during unsociable hours.
