Job Description :

Central SASH is part of the Safeguarding Children in Care model. You will work alongside our partner projects, such as the Building Bridges Team, Trauma Hub and Rapid Response.

Central SASH work from a trauma informed perspective to deliver responsive, flexible, intensive, bespoke support to young people (aged 10-18). We support at times of crisis to ensure intervention prevents the need for children to become Looked After by the Local Authority. We also support young people to return home from care where possible. Young People we work with are typically at risk of being exploited or experiencing complex mental health difficulties resulting in an admission to a Tier 4 hospital.

About this role:

This role involves working intensively with young people and their carers or people who are of significance to them. Many young people will be out of education and at risk of criminal and sexual exploitation. The candidate will need to be prepared to be challenged and work with resistance.

Multi agency working is essential; you will work closely with other professionals to ensure that children and families receive intensive support.

The post will require the successful candidate to build relationships with children, and their families based on their individual needs; responding to their heritage, neuro diversity, learning style and how they self-identify.

About you:

Essential:

  • Experience and understanding of case management including assessment, action planning and reviews.
  • Experience of planning, delivering and evaluating support activities for and with young people and their carers.
  • Knowledge of the issues affecting young people at risk of Child Exploitation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Equality and Diversity Issues.
  • Knowledge of child development and adolescents, social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • Ability to engage effectively with vulnerable and challenging young people in a variety of settings and to achieve positive outcomes with them.
  • Diving Licence and access to a vehicle.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies relating to this service user group.
  • Relevant professional qualification in Youth/Community work, Social Care, Health or Education.
