  • Duration: 4 weeks
  • Pay: £12.93 per hour

We are seeking a temporary Administrator to join Bolton Council for a 4-week period. This role is essential in supporting the current team administrator and complaints officer. The position is office-based with flexible working hours. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, and ready to start as soon as possible.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Photocopying and reproduction of documents.
  • Maintenance of notice boards.
  • Data input and managing databases.
  • Receiving and responding to everyday enquiries from/to customers, escalating requests outside one’s knowledge base to the appropriate person/area.
  • Answering telephones in a courteous manner, taking messages as required.
  • Preparing clearly defined documents/presentations.
  • Production of straightforward automated or routine reports to support basic information procedures.
  • Making routine arrangements and bookings according to clearly defined instructions.
  • Receiving visitors and providing/requesting basic information in a courteous and correct manner to promote a positive image of the Council.
  • Obtaining standard data and information to create documents or answer straightforward queries.
  • Preparation of standard and non-standard documentation, such as reports, presentations, and letters.
  • Performing straightforward interpretation, analysis, and manipulation of data, tasks, or information.
  • Filing, archiving, and document retrieval.
  • Delivering or overseeing support services to specialised areas, advising colleagues on specific systems or processes.
  • Planning and supervising a support team’s short and medium-term work activities in response to a manager’s general instructions.
  • Requisitioning and stock control of supplies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently.
  • Experience in administrative roles is preferred.
