Accounts Team Lead - Construction Industry | Emersons Green | Full-Time, On-SiteAre you a numbers whizz with a knack for leadership and a passion for process? We're on the lookout for an Accounts Team Lead to take the reins of a busy finance function in a growing construction business.Based in East Bristol, this is a brilliant opportunity for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, managing a small but mighty team, and keeping the wheels turning behind the scenes with precision and compliance.The salary on offer is £40,000 - £45,000 (depending on experience) plus benefits including:Benefits:- 25 days holiday per year plus Bank Holidays- Pension scheme- BUPA Health Scheme- Life Assurance- Income ProtectionThe Role:As Accounts Team Lead, you'll be overseeing both accounts payable and receivable, with a strong focus on VAT compliance (including CIS and reverse charge VAT). You'll supervise a team of two junior finance staff and play a crucial role in maintaining accurate records, leading payment processes, and supporting broader finance operations.Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage daily AP/AR processes, ensuring accurate and timely invoice and payment processing
  • Lead, train, and support two junior finance assistants, including workload planning and performance development
  • Ensure full compliance with UK VAT regulations, including CIS and VAT reverse charge (domestic and international)
  • Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations
  • Oversee weekly and monthly payment runs
  • Guarantee prompt and accurate processing of purchase invoices
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly payroll and ensure timely payments
  • Manage regular payments such as VAT instalments, PAYE, and quarterly corporation tax
  • Contribute to month-end close processes, including ledger reconciliations and reporting
  • Maintain up-to-date supplier and customer records
  • Support external audits and provide documentation as required
  • Continuously review and improve accounts processes and controls
What We're Looking For:
  • Experience in a similar role, ideally within the construction industry
  • Solid background managing AP/AR functions
  • Strong grasp of UK VAT rules, including reverse charge
  • Confident team leader with previous supervisory experience
  • Proficient in accounting software - Sage, Xero, SAP or similar
  • Detail-oriented, organised, and solutions-focused
  • Excellent communication skills
  • AAT qualified or working towards a relevant accounting qualification (preferred)
Nice-to-Haves:
  • Experience in a multi-entity or international environment
  • Familiarity with Sage 50
  • Exposure to Eque2
The Essentials:
  • This is a full-time, office-based role - 5 days per week
