Who are we looking for?

We are currently looking for a new Accounts Payable Administrator to join our Finance team at Cambridge Education Group.

The role is on a full-time, permanent basis with the location in Cambridge, United Kingdom. We operate on a hybrid work pattern where 3 days per week can be worked from home.

As an Accounts Payable Administrator, you will be primarily responsible for purchase ledger transactions, bank reconciliation and general accounts admin. You will be processing supplier invoices, checking data accuracy, authorisations for both individual CEG centres as well as Head Office to ensure correct use of the PO system.

With strong communication skills and (ideally) proven experience in delivering outstanding customer support, you will be involved in the pro-active conversations with suppliers regarding their non-returned invoices in order to ensure prompt and accurate payments of supplier accounts through electronic banking means.

You will be a key point of contact for both external (e.g. suppliers) and internal (e.g. various departments, team members and employees) to queries relating to payments and invoices. This will entail accurately and timely solving the issues relating to invoices & payments.

The ideal candidate will be able to quickly adapt and mitigate various scenarios as part of the daily role activities.

Some other key responsibilities as an Accounts Payable Administrator:

  • To pro-actively chase non-returned invoices and ensure correctly logged.
  • To reconcile supplier statements to purchase ledger accounts, investigating and resolving differences promptly.
  • To manage the payment of invoices and ensure that these are paid on time and only as required.
  • To deal promptly, courteously, and efficiently with supplier queries.
  • To answer queries from colleagues in Head Office and other staff about invoices and payments.
  • To ensure all outgoing payments are correctly recorded in finance systems.
  • To reconcile the cash book to bank statements on a regular basis and clear up any differences and unusual or old reconciling items.
  • To provide cover for other team members during holidays, sickness and other busy periods as requested by the Finance Manager.
  • To assist colleagues courteously and efficiently with their expenses queries.
  • To reconcile and manage employee credit card submissions.

Key skills and experience we will be looking for:

  • English and Maths to GCSE level or equivalent (essential)
  • Experience of dealing with people in a variety of complex/difficult situations (essential)
  • Proven delivery of good customer service (desirable)
  • Proven experience of administrative work in a fast-paced environment (desirable)
  • Strong communication skills (essential)
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail (essential)
  • Comfortable with use of Microsoft Office applications (essential)
