Company Overview
An industry-leading organisation is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Officer/Accounts Manager to oversee the Accounts department. This role is essential in ensuring accuracy across all financial operations—from purchase ledger to trial balance—and includes managing a small payroll. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Sage 50 and thrive in a fast-paced, office-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments to suppliers and vendors.
- Maintain and reconcile financial records using Sage 50 accounting software.
- Perform accurate data entry to ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded.
- Manage monthly HMRC postponed VAT statements and ensure alignment with system records.
- Process sales and purchase ledger invoices and credit notes in GBP, EUR, and USD.
- Handle payroll for up to 20 staff, including issuing contracts and managing leavers via an external HR system.
- Administer the company pension scheme.
- Assist in preparing monthly profit and loss accounts and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
- Provide general administrative support and assist with ad hoc tasks as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in a finance-related role, ideally within the financial services sector.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and best practices.
- Proficiency in Sage 50 Accounts and Microsoft Excel.
- High attention to detail and strong data entry skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Clear and professional verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
