AJ Chambers are recruiting for a small boutique practice in Brighton, offering an Accounts Manager opportunity within a modern and growing firm.

Based in Brighton, this boutique accountancy firm works with around 200 clients, including limited companies, sole traders, and freelancers—many from the creative, digital, and media sectors. With just three current team members, the firm is entering an exciting period of growth and is looking for a hands-on and personable Accounts Manager to help shape its future.

This role is ideal for a qualified (ACA or ACCA) or qualified-by-experience professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys a high level of client interaction, autonomy, and variety in their work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing and reviewing year-end accounts for a range of clients

• Managing a portfolio of owner-managed businesses and freelancers

• Preparing management accounts and providing commercial insight

• Reviewing VAT returns and overseeing bookkeeping processes

• Supporting and mentoring junior staff as the team expands

• Acting as a first point of contact for client queries and developing trusted relationships

Requirements:

• ACA/ACCA qualified or qualified by experience (QBE)

• Strong experience in accounts preparation within a UK accountancy practice

• Able to manage a varied client portfolio independently

• Confident communicator with a client-focused mindset

• Comfortable working in a small, collaborative team with growth ambitions
