Accounts Assistant - Maternity Cover - Macildowie Recruitment and Retention : Job Details

Macildowie are working with this client based in Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire to recruit a Temporary Accounts Assistant to support with a maternity cover position - Minimum 6 months

• Salary: £24,000 to £27,000 (Dependent on experience)
• Employment type: Temporary (interim cover)
• Working arrangement: Office-based, on site at the Sharnbrook premises

This is an interim accounts position within a well-established, independently owned business.

Key responsibilities:

• Process customer invoices and ensure timely distribution
• Proactively chase overdue payments via phone, email, and written correspondence
• Monitor outstanding balances and reconcile customer accounts
• Keep accurate records of all customer interactions and payment agreements
• Support month-end closing activities and audit preparations
• Contribute to reducing overdue payments through diligent follow-up

What's ideal:

• Prior temporary or permanent experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable or similar finance roles
• Strong communication skills, comfortable liaising with customers
• Good attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping
• Proactive and organised, especially in chasing and reconciling balances
