Accounts Assistant - Reed : Job Details

Reed is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a valued client based in the Medway area, who is seeking a proactive and detail-focused Accounts Assistant to join their finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong accounts payable experience looking to grow within a supportive and dynamic environment.

About the Role:

As an Accounts Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the Accounts Payable function, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices. You’ll be working in a fast-paced environment, maintaining excellent relationships with suppliers and internal teams to ensure smooth financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process a high volume of stock and non-stock supplier invoices daily using Sage 200
• Match invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes, resolving discrepancies promptly
• Ensure invoices are correctly coded and approved in line with company policies
• Reconcile supplier statements and address outstanding queries
• Prepare and process weekly/monthly payment runs
• Maintain accurate records of all accounts payable transactions
• Liaise with suppliers and internal departments to ensure timely payments
• Assist with month-end processes including accruals and aged payables reporting
• Support audit processes by providing relevant documentation
• Carry out additional finance-related tasks as required

What We’re Looking For:

• Previous experience in an accounts payable or finance assistant role, ideally in a high-volume setting
• Strong knowledge of invoice processing, payment cycles, and reconciliations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Sage 200
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage deadlines and work under pressure
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Good organisational and time management skills

Desirable:

• AAT qualified or working towards a finance/accounting qualification
• Experience working with multi-currency and international suppliers
