We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to join an Accounting & Finance team in the public sector. The successful candidate will demonstrate a keen understanding of financial procedures and will contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the department.

Description

• Purchase ledger processing and monitoring
• Sales ledger processing and monitoring
• Cash and bank reconciliations
• Preparation of weekly supplier and staff expenses payment runs
• Preparation of ad hoc payments
• Completion of month end accountancy tasks such as journal prep and posting to ledger, plus other ad hoc tasks
• Setting up new suppliers and customers
• Year end accounts and audit preparation to support Financial Controller
• Monitoring mailboxes and actioning emails
• Communication with external stakeholders, including the bank, suppliers, customers
• Communication with internal stakeholders, including budget holders

Profile

A successful candidate should have:

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or AAT qualification
• Proficiency in using financial software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team
