Accounts Assistant

A returning client of ours within logistics is looking for an AAT Qualified, Part Qualified ACCA or CIMA or ex practice Accounts Assistant to join their team and contribute to the smooth operations of their finance department. This role is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail and a strong background in bookkeeping and accounting processes. You will be working in a dynamic environment that demands precision and professionalism.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Obtain invoice authorisation and ensure timely processing.
- Perform supplier and customer statement reconciliations.
- Manage allocations of payments on supplier and customer accounts.
- Send out remittance advices and customer statements.
- Handle general ledger entries including accruals and prepayments on SUN Systems.
- Double entry bookkeeping (debits and credits)
- Process all staff credit card expenses on SAP Concur and produce expense reports.
- Resolve supplier queries via telephone and email efficiently, ensuring all issues are investigated and resolved promptly.
- Conduct daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Prepare the monthly BACs payment and ensure suppliers are paid on time.
- Manage the fixed assets register and petty cash, including prepaid cards.
- Assist with billings and accounts receivable as required.
- Support the external auditor during the company’s annual audit.
- Liaise with suppliers to negotiate better terms and pricing.
- Audit Purchase Ledger monthly for cost analysis.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of book-keeping and double-entry accounting.
- Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
- Ability to learn new programs quickly and adapt to changes.
- Capability to work independently and take initiative.
- Proficient in multitasking and working under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally across all levels of the organisation.
- Proficient user of MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel), SUN Systems, and SAP Concur.
- Experience with international suppliers and handling foreign currency invoices.
- Part Qualified in a relevant accounting qualification or AAT Qualified.
- Candidates must be residing in the UK for 5 plus years in order to obtain DBS and clear references going back 5 years
