TPF Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a well-established and respected accountancy practice based in Chichester, seeking a skilled Accountant to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified and experienced practice professional to play a key role in the preparation of client accounts and tax returns, while supporting both senior staff and trainees within a collaborative and supportive environment.
About the Role:Following a structured induction programme, the successful candidate will work on a varied portfolio of clients, including Limited Companies, LLPs, Sole Traders, and Partnerships. You will take responsibility for preparing accounts and tax returns, supporting the wider team in delivering high-quality client services.
Reporting to the Portfolio Managers, you will also assist more junior team members, sharing knowledge and helping them progress in their training and development.
Key Responsibilities:Preparation of year-end accounts for a range of business structures
Completion of Corporation Tax and Personal Tax returns using the CCH software suite
Use of cloud-based software such as Xero, Dext, Sage, and QuickBooks to process client data and prepare VAT and CIS returns
Production and commentary on Management Accounts
Assist with file review points and prepare accounts packs and client correspondence
Advise on personal tax matters under supervision of qualified accountants
Support with ad hoc accounting duties such as P11D and ATED submissions
Work within pre-agreed client budgets and timelines
Contribute to smooth workflow management in collaboration with the Portfolio Managers
Mentor and support junior staff members as required
Ensure compliance with internal processes, industry regulations, and legislation
Maintain a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and client service
AAT Level 4 qualified with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a practice environment (QBE also considered)
Strong understanding of accounting and tax compliance for SMEs
Previous experience preparing both personal and corporate tax returns
Excellent attention to detail and high standards of accuracy
Strong communication skills and a client-focused approach
Ability to manage deadlines and multi-task effectively
Proficient in MS Office (particularly Excel and Word)
Experience using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, and Dext
