Accountant - Robert Half : Job Details

Robert Half are pleased to be supporting a long-standing client to recruit 2x experienced Financial Accountants in blended roles, depending on the skills and background of successful candidates.

As part of a major finance system change project, two members of the finance team will be stepping into project roles, creating an immediate need to backfill their core financial accounting responsibilities.

These roles are crucial to ensure continuity in monthly reporting, year-end preparation, audit support, and financial project work during a period of intense system change activity scheduled to ramp up significantly in the coming months.

• Location: Central Bristol
• Start Date: ASAP
• Duration: 3 months
• Hybrid: Great flexibility
• Day rate: Up to £350pd (Via umbrella/PAYE equivalent also available)

Your key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

• Full month-end accounting.
• Pension fund month-end close: balance sheet, P&L, and cashflow reporting
• VAT returns preparation and submission
• Review and consolidation of financial statements
• Assist with year-end prep and consolidation files
• Support external audit for an international entity (deadline for completion: 31st August)
• Gather and collate documentation for auditors
• Ensure data accuracy and completeness
• Help navigate audit queries efficiently
• Support related project tasks including:
  • Balance sheet forecasting
  • Tax compliance and review (collate invoices and ask appropriate questions)
• Manage ad hoc project tasks to maintain progress during the transition period

Key experience required for the role:

Essential:

• Strong month-end accounting experience (ideally within a group finance function)
• Hands-on experience with VAT returns
• Experience supporting or working within audit processes

Desirable:

• Knowledge of international tax compliance and reporting (desirable but not essential)
• Strong consolidation and financial reporting skills
• Able to work independently and hit the ground running
