Commercial Insurance Account Executive – About the role
You’ll be working alongside experienced Account Executives, Broking Managers, and Claims Handlers who are committed to delivering exceptional client service and innovative insurance solutions.
We are looking for an individual with the ability to inherit and manage an existing book of business across following sectors: Professional services, Engineering, Construction & Manufacturing so someone with experience in a commercial insurance Account Executive role. Proven ability to manage and retain a portfolio of SME and mid-market clients.
Essential Experience using client management systems (e.g. Acturis, OpenGI, etc.). Up-to-date understanding of FCA regulatory requirements and Consumer Duty obligations. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel locally for client visits. Cert CII minimum or willingness to work toward with company support. Desirable Experience in sectors like construction, manufacturing, or professional services. ACII qualification or part-qualified. Exposure to Lloyd’s markets or complex risk placements. Commercial Insurance Account Executive – Key duties
You will work closely with clients to provide tailored advice, manage policy renewals, and navigate the complexities of the insurance market. This is a proactive, results-driven role that requires a mix of new business development, strong client service, and in-depth industry knowledge.
Client Relationship Management:
Act as a strategic advisor to your clients, building deep, consultative relationships based on trust, expertise, and consistency.
Anticipate client needs by maintaining a strong understanding of their business challenges and market landscape.
Deliver a personalised experience, tailoring solutions and communications to fit client profiles, business types, and industry sectors.
Champion client satisfaction, proactively resolving issues and continuously seeking ways to add value and improve retention.
New Business Development:
Drive growth by identifying, pursuing, and converting new business opportunities across your network, referrals, and the wider market.
Adopt a consultative approach to understand prospective clients’ needs, delivering bespoke insurance solutions that demonstrate value and build trust.
Build a strong personal pipeline through proactive outreach, networking events, and by leveraging existing relationships to create warm leads.
Collaborate with marketing and internal teams to support campaign activity, nurture prospects, and follow up on inbound enquiries.
Maintain an entrepreneurial mindset, continuously scanning the market for emerging opportunities, niche risks, or under-served sectors.
Present professionally and with impact, both in person and virtually, to influence decision-makers and secure long-term client wins.
Renewal and Policy Management:
Lead the end-to-end renewal cycle, ensuring timely engagement, effective negotiation, and optimal policy outcomes for each client.
Use insights and benchmarking data to justify terms and demonstrate value to clients during the renewal process.
Support clients through changes in risk profile, reviewing their coverage as their businesses evolve or expand.
Ensure retention through proactivity, clear communication, and by consistently exceeding expectations.
Commercial Insurance Account Executive – Key requirements
Proven experience as an Account Executive within the insurance sector, with a focus on commercial insurance and new business development.
Strong knowledge of insurance products, markets, and underwriting processes.
Demonstrated ability to generate new business through networking, referrals, and proactive sales efforts.
Experience in managing client portfolios, understanding their evolving needs, and ensuring long-term client retention.
Proficiency in using insurance platforms and client management systems.
Comprehensive understanding of compliance regulations, including FCA regulations and Consumer Duty obligations.
Desirable:
Cert CII or ACII qualification or willingness to work towards it, with business support.
Experience using Acturis or similar systems for policy management, client communication, and report generation.
