Accommodation Support Worker

Manchester City Council are looking for a dedicated Accommodation Support Worker to join our homelessness team. This role is crucial in providing housing-related support to residents, working collaboratively with customers and agencies to secure long-term housing solutions and ensuring high-quality temporary accommodation for those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Conduct prompt assessments of customers referred for accommodation, ensuring a safe and supported environment.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers of the Homelessness Service, offering effective and accurate information and advice.
- Promote the integration of the accommodation and its residents into the local and wider community.
- Provide high-quality housing-related support, advice, and advocacy to assist customers in accessing support related to benefits, support agencies, education, employment, resettlement options, and training.
- Offer intensive support for customers with complex needs, particularly those who have exhibited antisocial behaviour.
- Develop holistic support plans for residents, setting individual targets that aim towards longer-term housing solutions.
- Ensure the effective upkeep and smooth running of the temporary accommodation, including property repairs, health and safety requirements, and rent collections.
- Manage building services, including the preparation of flats for let, organising repairs, and managing furnishings and household equipment.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on all aspects of service provision, adhering to City Council systems and financial regulations.
- Contribute to the planning, development, and implementation of changes in working practices and service delivery.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in a support role within a housing or homelessness context.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexibly and efficiently, prioritising needs effectively.
- Commitment to promoting diversity and ensuring equal access and treatment in employment and service delivery.
- A valid enhanced DBS on the update service.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
