ACA Senior Auditor & Accountant Salary: £40k - £45k P/A (Depending on Experience) Hours: Flexible working hours (either 8-4 or 9-5), with the successful candidate choosing a preferred schedule. After completing the probationary period, one day can be worked from home.

We are working with a growing accountancy firm based in Huddersfield, serving a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses. As part of our client's expansion plans, we are seeking an experienced ACA Senior Auditor & Accountant to centralise and lead the audit services, catering to the increasing demand from clients.

As a Senior Auditor & Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in our client's firm, managing a varied portfolio of clients and supervising staff across different levels. With a focus on growth and expansion, we are looking for individuals who are ready to take on the challenge of centralising our client's audit services and driving its development.

Your core responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of audit and accounts clients, with a balanced workload of approximately 50% audit work and 50% accounts.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, resolving technical issues and providing support as needed.
  • Supervise staff, providing guidance and support for their development.
  • Prepare year-end accounts, management accounts, and tax computations to a high standard.
  • Plan and review accounts files, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist clients with accounts queries and provide proactive support.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including networking and attending events.
  • Drive projects forward and contribute to the development of the client base and the firm.
  • Generate sales invoices and ensure accurate billing for clients.

Key Requirements of the Senior Auditor & Accountant:

  • ACA qualified with a minimum of 5 years' experience within an accountancy practice
  • Strong technical skills, including knowledge of VAT, Corporation Tax, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in client meetings
  • Proactive and self-motivated, able to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to learn and embrace change
  • Courteous and professional manner, with a strong attention to detail

Desirable attributes of the Senior Auditor & Accountant:

  • Knowledge of IRIS Accounts Production and other bookkeeping software
  • Further expertise in Excel functions and macros
