2nd Line Support Engineer - Hybrid - Leicester Salary: Up to £34,000

Role:We're looking for a proactive 2nd Line Support Engineer to join a leading UK manufacturing and distribution business, supporting over 400 users across 45+ sites nationwide. This is a varied role, balancing day-to-day technical support with involvement in infrastructure upgrades and cloud-based projects.
You'll handle escalations from the service desk, maintain business-critical systems, and assist the wider IT team in delivering projects that keep operations running smoothly across production facilities, warehouses, and offices.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 2nd line support for escalated IT issues (hardware, software, networking).
Support and maintain Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure AD, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
Administer Microsoft 365, Teams, and Exchange across the business.
Assist with backups (Veeam) and take part in disaster recovery testing.
Provide support for core network infrastructure (switches, firewalls, and wireless).
Support the rollout of new hardware and software across manufacturing and warehouse sites.
Collaborate with 3rd line and infrastructure teams on IT projects and system improvements.
Document fixes and create guides to improve knowledge sharing.
Ideal Candidate:
Experience in a 2nd Line Support role (or strong 1st Line ready to step up).
Good knowledge of Windows Server and Microsoft 365.
Hands-on experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and Exchange.
Strong troubleshooting across PCs, servers, and networks.
Exposure to cloud services (Azure) and virtualisation (VMware/Hyper-V) is a plus.
Familiarity with backup technologies (Veeam preferred).
Clear communicator with the ability to support users across multiple business sites.
