Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs and making a real difference in their lives? Our SEN school is looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant in Blackburn to provide dedicated, personalised support to a student with complex needs.
What you will do:
Work closely with the class teacher to implement and adapt Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to suit the student's learning style and needs.
Provide one-to-one support in lessons, helping the student engage with learning and achieve their personal targets.
Support the student with social, emotional, and behavioural development, helping them build confidence, independence, and resilience.
Encourage and facilitate communication, both verbal and non-verbal, depending on the child's abilities.
Monitor and record progress, reporting observations to teachers and contributing to planning meetings.
Assist with personal care and wellbeing, as required, in line with safeguarding and school policies.
Promote inclusion, helping the student access the wider school environment and participate in group activities wherever possible.
Who we're looking for:
Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN), such as autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, or physical disabilities.
A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach, able to respond to changing needs and behaviours.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with students, teachers, and families.
Commitment to safeguarding, health, and wellbeing of children at all times.
Enthusiasm for contributing to a positive, inclusive, and supportive school culture.
