Position : z/OS Systems Programmer

Long Term Contract

Hybrid (alternating days), 5 Manhattan West, New York, NY

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Primary responsibility will include:

Ongoing maintenance (install, patching, upgrades, administration, etc.,) of the mainframe z/OS operating system, accompanying storage systems and systems software products (e.g., database, transaction server, security management, scheduling, report distribution, etc.), and UNIX Systems Services.

Upgrades of mainframe and related storage.

The candidate will be required to provide production off hour coverage (if necessary) and support periodic weekend implementations.

Experience / Preferred Qualifications:

The candidate must have experience with VTAM and TCP/IP.

10+ years of experience working with z/OS, JES2, SMP/E, TSO, IOCP/HCD. Basic IBM utilities (IDCAMS, IEFBR14, etc.) program product installations, working knowledge of the IBM virtual tape system and Unix System Services.

Working knowledge of CICS, IMS, DB2, and AFP printing is a plus. Experience in using monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON.

Working with an enterprise-wide, large-scale implementation.

Excellent communication skills (Oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.

The candidate must have experience with mainframe CPU installs as a systems programmer consultant.

Education:

Bachelors degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field, OR 15 years of experience working in the mainframe system programmer field.
