Position Summary:

Responsible for assisting SOR3 Recovery Coach with recruiting and organizing Youth for the SOR3 initiative at the CORE Center. Willing to speak publicly on behalf of the SOR3 project, and advocate for the rights of Youth in Recovery.

Direct Supervisor: Director/Assistant Director Recovery Services

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruit Youth to become participants in the SOR3 initiative.
  • With the assistance of the Director/Assistant Director, SOR3 Youth Recovery Coach and other key project staff, develop outreach plan for locations and activities intended to recruit Youth.
  • Assist with coordination of activities and recreational events for Youth.
  • Assist with recruitment, training, and support for Youth to work on community outreach projects.
  • Along with key project staff, ensure the accomplishment of goals, objectives and deliverables required by NYS OASAS/SOR3 administrators for all Youth activities and services.
  • Assist with coordination and facilitation of Youth Leadership Training Modules.
  • Attend community stakeholder meetings on behalf of the SOR3 initiative as directed.
  • Assist Youth in the delivery of Peer Recovery Support Services (PRSS).
  • Serve as a liaison with community groups interested in building Recovery Capital for Youth.
  • Offer presentations to community groups and testify at public hearings and community forums on issues related to the goals and objectives of the Youth program.
  • Assist with project data collection and timely completion of program reports to funders. Maintain data as required and issue reports as requested.
  • Attending training programs, as assigned by Director/Assistant Director Recovery Services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Director/Assistant Director Recovery Services.

Qualifications:

  • Personal lived experience with recovery (3 years or more of sustained recovery) and/or previous criminal justice issues strongly preferred.
  • Prior community organizing or related experience preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication, and peer supervisory skills.
  • Computer literacy (word processing, e-mail, internet research, data entry) required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Bachelors degree preferred but work experience may substitute for academic qualifications.
  • Requires evening and weekend hours as determined by OASAS, CCA/CORE Centers guidelines,
  • Possess a valid NYS Drivers License
  • Reliable transportation to transport participants, and appropriate level of auto insurance as required by CCA i.e., $100,000, $300,000, $100,000 personal auto insurance coverage.

Requires rigorous background check and the ability to be vetted to work with Youth.
