false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE JOB IDENTIFICATION Job Title: Northwest Youth and Family Program Coordinator FLSA Status: Part-time 20 hours August-April, 40 hours May-July Reports To: Youth and Family Program Director Hourly Wage: $18.00 POSITION SUMMARY: Work directly with Youth and Family Program Director to plan, develop, and implement a comprehensive and expanded array of vibrant youth and family program offerings at the Northwest Branch. This includes administering the day-to-day operations of Play & Learn, Youth Zone programs as well as Parent's Night Out, Birthday Parties, Family Events, Holiday Camps and Summer Camp. Build relationships with members and encourage participation in the various program offerings. Lead and develop staff that may report directly to the Youth & Family Program Director. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Related to Program Development • Assist with the development, planning, implementation, enhancement, and oversight of the daily activities associated with the facilitation of existing and future youth and family programs. • Plan and execute all camps (summer, holiday and break camps) • Plan, hire staff and coordinate all camp programs at the Northwest branch • Coordinate Play and Learn, and Youth Zone staff scheduling. • Coordinate Parent's Night Out (PNO), program entry, dates, and themes. • Plan and execute family events. • Assist with the development of potential strategies to market respective programs. • Conduct evaluations at end of each program cycle and respective camp session in order to continually secure feedback for the purpose of enhancing program offerings and service delivery to our members. • Interact and communicate with parents as needed. • Troubleshoot and handle member complaints and suggestions related to programs. • Administer the day-to-day operations of the Play & Learn, Youth Zone, meeting all applicable state regulations and Monroe County YMCA policies. • Take the leadership role in Play and Learn and Youth Zone by managing the room, ensuring that children are safe, actively and appropriately engaged, and acting as a role model and guide for team members in terms of actions and attitudes. • Facilitate a program environment that invites exploration, promotes positive play, and welcomes children. • Provide programs that adhere to YMCA health and safety standards and exhibit high standards in cleanliness and presentation. • Assist team members in planning, preparing, leading, and cleaning up craft activities, games, stories or movement opportunities. Related to Staffing • Interviewing, hiring, training, counseling, and termination of staff. • Determine staff work schedule. • Review and approve time cards for program staff. • Be involved with the completion of annual reviews of all direct reports. • Recruit, assist in training, supervision, support, and development of Play and Learn team members, Play and Learn team leaders, Youth Zone attendants. • Maintain safe employee/child ratios, taking into account room dynamics, member needs, and available space and staff. • Conduct quarterly staff meetings or as needed. Implement training opportunities for the Play and Learn team and Youth Zone. Related to Budgetary • Assist the Youth and Family Program Director in the preparation of the Northwest program annual budget and the achievement of revenue benchmarks and control of all related expenditures. QUALIFICATIONS: oA Bachelor's or associate's degree in education and or Recreation is desired. oBelief in the YMCA and its Mission. oPrevious staff supervisory experience and program development skills desired. oPrevious direct experience in the planning and coordination of a summer camp program is desired. oStrong communication skills, both written and verbal, and excellent interpersonal skills. oDemonstrated knowledge of practices, procedures, activities, and programs. oAbility to manage multiple task simultaneously and maintain personal equilibrium. oAbility to demonstrate and model caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. oCommitted to the cause statement of developing youth and to the long term goals of promoting health and wellness in our community youth. oMust have reliable transportation. oMust have the physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities such as hiking, swimming, and physical games.
