The Youth Design Challenge is the flagship product for Youth Education and has tens of thousands of students and five years of program evaluation behind it. The objective now is to scale the program, potentially reimagining it, to reach hundreds of thousands of students in both formal and informal/nonformal education. The job is entrepreneurial in nature, finding new ways to bring biomimicry design thinking into middle- and high-school age environments through the YDC.
Summary
The Biomimicry Institute is seeking a YDC Manager to further its work in Youth Education Offerings. This role involves managing and developing resources for students, educators, and education partners to ensure the success of the YDC. The position requires collaboration with curriculum developers and delivering educational training.
Preferred candidates are individuals with a MA in Science, Engineering, Design, Bio-inspired or related fields, and at least four years of experience working with teachers and/or students (formal or informal settings). Candidates should have a creative approach to teaching design thinking or nature-inspired work, familiarity with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and comfort working with innovative educational models such as digital platforms, gaming, or student-directed learning.
We are a fully remote organization seeking candidates residing in California, Montana, or Pennsylvania. Salary range: $65,000 - $75,000. Please submit both a resume and a letter of interest explaining how you would grow the YDC program.
