Position: School Age & Summer Camp Program Director Salary: $50,000.00 - $52,000.00
The YMCA Alexandria is currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team as the School Age & Summer Camp Program Director. Our ideal candidate is able to maintain high expectations while also ensuring a fun and positive environment daily! The Program Director oversees the overall operation of the School Age/Summer Camp program site(s), including curriculum development, delivery, and health and safety of the children.
Some of the exciting responsibilities include:
- Managing the daily operations of the afterschool sites during the school year and the day camp programs during the summer.
- Establishing relationships with children and families and being responsive to their needs.
- Ensuring all children receive enriching educational programming focused on positive experiences and child outcomes.
- Assisting staff in developing meaningful curricula that meet the needs and interests of the group and individual children.
- Interviewing, hiring, supervising, and providing training and professional development for staff.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A graduate degree in a child-related field such as elementary education, nursing, or recreation, with six months of programmatic experience; OR a bachelor's degree in a related field with one year of experience.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience working primarily with preschool/school-age children in a licensed child care center.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and administrative skills, including budget development, income production, and expense control.
- Effective communication skills with children and parents, and a commitment to working within a diverse population.
