A calm demeanor under pressure, a collaborative spirit, and a consistently optimistic attitude are essential traits for success in this role.As a WorkSource Specialist, you will be helping customers, in the Resource Room facilitate orientations and career services workshops, or meeting one on one with a job seeker to assess customers work readiness and employability, it is our WorkSource Specialists' goal to engage our job seekers by offering access to the full array of services available through the WorkSource system. These services increase job seeker's skills and ability to find gain full employment in high-quality jobs and careers. The home location for this role is the WorkSource Clallam County-Sequim, located at 810 W Brackett Rd. Sequim, WA 98382.The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) project has been in place over the past 30 years; however, the nature of the project requires that we competitively submit to a Request for Proposal quadrennially and be awarded the WIOA grant to have the project extended. This is a full-time project-based position which is funded for three-year increments with continuation of funding through the grant process.The position may be eligible for one day of telework once the employee has successfully completed all program-related training and has been evaluated for proficiency to work remotely.Please submit only the required documents as noted below and ensure all Personal Identifying Information (PII) such as Social Security numbers etc. are edited out of your materials for privacy.In this role, you will regularly meet with customers to determine which service best fits their needs and determine where they are in their employment search. Because you will interact with people needing varying levels of support, listening to understand, empathizing, and the ability to be adaptable with how you communicate are crucial skills in fostering trusting relationships with customers who may have barriers or facing difficult situations.Some of your daily tasks may include but not limited to:* Conduct individual appointments to articulate program services, requirements, and activities and identify components applicable to the customer's need.* Review skills and abilities through a variety of assessment, determining training needs and engaging the customer to enroll in training.* Manage caseload, provide case management, facilitate appropriate support services and/or make referrals.* Identify and evaluate barriers and explore solutions to assist in removing barriers, assist in obtaining needed documentation.* Conducting outreach activities to recruit customers into services.* Determine eligibility and/or appropriateness for program, enroll and explain program participation requirements.* Obligate and manage training program monies, track program resources available to customers.* Develop individual employment service plans, guide customers to effectively use in employment and training programs and services.* Support the customer to find and keep employment through an extended period of follow up services.* Participate in a performance-based program, achieving goals to motivate customers to complete training through educational and vocational achievements.Please click here to request a complete detailed description of the position and its duties.Required Qualifications:Option 1One (1) year as a WorkSource Specialist 3 or equivalent class within the Employment Security Department, or another state's Employment Security agency.Option 2A Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of relevant experience in workforce development, social or human resource services, public relations, or public contact work, such as: unemployment insurance, social services, human resource services, education, public relations, benefits programs, insurance claims, law enforcement and banking.Option 3A combination of education and/or relevant experience totaling at least seven (7) years.A Master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.Education to Experience Equivalences:Associate Degree=2 years I Bachelor's Degree= 4 years I Masters or Higher=5 yearAdditional Requirement of Employment:* Must be able to travel on a daily or weekly basis to provide services.* Must be able to pass an Unemployment Insurance (UI) claim benefit and Paid Family Medical Leave (PFML) claim and fraud check review.Please submit your Cover Letter, and Resume with your Online Application through the Add Attachments field.
