Work Study, Student Support (Creative Arts)Department: Art Location: Western Campus Reports To: Assistant Professor Recruitment Type: Internal Requisition ID: req6441 Employment Type: Student Union Position: Non-Union Work Schedule: DAYS TO BE DETERMINED BY HIRING MANAGER AND STUDENT Job Description: LearningObjectives: Student will perform a supportrole assisting the Gallery West Directors. This will involve weekly gallerysupport in both administrative and manual duties. Duties will include:
- Maintaining regular weekly hours at the gallery receptiondesk. These hours will be decided upon with the gallery directors. Greet andinform gallery visitors as needed, collect email addresses for mailing lists,and share info about future exhibitions with visitors.
- Twice per semester, assisting in the arranging andinstallation of new gallery exhibitions.
- Twice per semester, assisting in the takedown of galleryexhibitions. This involves taking artwork down from walls or pedestals,replacing plastic or packaging for work, and repairing/spot-painting gallerywalls.
- Twice per semester, assisting at Gallery Reception events.This includes setup of the space as well as hanging signs and directing gueststo the gallery.
- Ongoing support in the coordination of galleryadvertising. This may involve email correspondence with Tri-C's ICD department,correspondence with exhibiting artists to gather images and promotionalmaterials, and distribution of promotional materials (flyers, posters, etc).
- Collect and organize gallery documents such as GalleryAgreement forms sent to exhibiting artists as well as documents and informationcollected from artists.
- Administrative support during the Annual Student Show,which will involve the organization of application materials from upwards of 75Tri-C students.
- Other gallery support duties as assigned.
- Consistently maintain 6 credit hours each semester;
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress;
- Adhere to College's confidentiality policy;
- Successfully pass background/drug screening;
- Answer phone and take messages;
- Clerical duties such as filing, data entry, copying and faxing;
- Open and sort mail;
- Strong interpersonal communication skills;
- Willingness to learn new technology;
- Assist with special projects;
- Other duties as assigned.
