Work Package TechnicianPosition Summary:

Life Cycle Engineering is seeking individuals to support the Engineering and Planning Department (Code 200) at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS&IMF) as a Work Packager. Responsibilities include packaging and assembling documents and materials for production work, as well as archiving, scanning, and filing work packages related to mechanical systems such as Hydraulic, Air, Seawater, Trim/Drain, Shafting, Steam Generators, Propulsion, Ventilation, etc.

Clearance Requirement:
  • Must be a US citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a DOD Secret security clearance.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Support Trouble Desk and mechanical design engineering technician services, including developing detailed specifications, material, QA and test requirements, project estimating, material procurement, and technical correspondence.
  • Perform ship checks to assess actual shipboard conditions.
  • Prepare and develop Task Group Instructions/Technical Work Documents using AIM, AIM-XP, ATIS, SDI, JEDMICS, CITIS, SECNET systems.
  • Review Job Summaries/TGIs written by SHAPEC (planning yard) EPD.
  • Research and prepare JMLs and order materials via MRQT using APLs as needed.
  • Review, revise, and issue Ships Force CU phases of scheduled maintenance and testing.
  • Prepare Quality Assurance (QA) documents in conjunction with DM2.
  • Compile Allowance Parts Lists (APL).
  • Conduct ATIS, CITIS & SDI drawing research.
  • Complete Unrestricted Operations/Maintenance Requirement Cards (URO/MRC).
  • Mentor junior engineers on shipboard systems.
  • Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 10 years of practical engineering experience, including operation, testing, maintenance, and repair of naval ships or similar military experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Familiarity with Material Management System.
  • Knowledge of mechanical components disassembly, inspection, repair, and restoration.
  • Familiarity with AIM, ATIS, CITIS, SDI, APL, SMS, MRQT, and MAT systems.
  • Compliance with NAVSEAINST 4855.34 for SUBSAFE, Fly-By-Wire, and Deep Submergence Systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.

    • Regular physical activity including walking, climbing stairs, bending, reaching, standing, and sitting.
    • Ability to speak, read, hear, and write; using office equipment as needed.
